DEVELOPMENT OF RECORD-BREAKING SOLAR CELL

What: Development of a record-breaking perovskite/silicon tandem solar cell

Where: Different institutions across EU and UK

When: 2020

Electricity generation is getting more and more affordable due to the constant research and technical development. A big part of these efforts is connected to the growth of power conversion efficiency. Using tandem solar power cells is one option and among them, perovskite/silicon tandem solar cells are the most promising in terms of affordability. The certified conversion efficiency of the tandem cell exceeded the 29 percent milestone. The full results were published in Science.

Within the interdisciplinary team which developed a record-breaking perovskite/silicon tandem solar cell were also the researchers from our partner institution and coordinator University of Ljubljana.
