Where: Reykjavik University
When: June 2022
Ms. Nicole Ashley Bird comes from the US and has just finished her master’s degree in Analysis of the concept of self-sufficiency of RES of the local energy community of Luče at Reykjavik University.
Nicole worked as an intern at the Laboratory of energy policy at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Ljubljana from August 2021 until February 2022.
For the MSc in Sustainable Energy thesis, she researched the factors that affect the self-sufficiency of the Luče energy community. This involved looking at factors such as battery storage, weather and seasons, and energy community size. The key performance indicators of self-sufficiency level and self-consumption level were applied to each factor to provide a quantitative analysis of how each factor affected the self-sufficiency of the energy community and was supervised by Prof. Ewa L. Carlson from Reykjavik University and Assoc. Prof. Andrej Gubina from the University of Ljubljana. The thesis was defended on 3 June at Reykjavik University and the examination was conducted by Prof. Magni Palsson, R&D Program Director at Landsnet in Iceland.
On behalf of COMPILE project we wish you all the best in your future career and we hope that our paths cross again.
