SLOVENIA SIMPLIFIED PROCEDURE FOR FORMING ENC

What: The Decree on Self-supply with Electricity from Renewable Energy Sources amended

Where: Slovenia

When: December 2020

The future of energy communities (EnC) is bright! Simplified regulation and administrative procedure is a step forward. With our pilot site Luče, the first self-sufficient EnC in Slovenia, we believe our project has helped to shape and speed up this movement.

The Decree on Self-supply with Electricity from Renewable Energy Sources came into force in April 2019. Since some shortcomings were noticed, it was amended in December 2020. Administrative barriers for establishing a self-sufficient community were removed and the process of connecting devices to the power grid was simplified. Besides, the updated document brings more flexible contractual relations for community members, allows a bigger share of renewable energy sources (RES) and puts no limit on the capacity of devices which now only depends on technical possibilities.
